Have you ever been somewhere and thought that you were on a
movie set? I hadn’t really ever had a moment like that
until I sat down at Bricks. Bricks is a charming little neighborhood
café right smack in the center of Santa Maria. It has
that instant familiarity that brings you back to the linoleum
lined cafés of your childhood (for me anyway.) The fare
is pretty simple; burgers, burgers, and a few sandwiches with
an attempt or two at the new health craze known widely as “salads.”
Before dipping into my actual food review I have to give “props” to
the service at this joint. My drink was never less than half
full and our server did not even bat an eyelash when I asked
for nine separate checks, the mark of a true foodservice
professional and something very much appreciated by someone
here on assignment.
As for the lunch this unassuming café actually had a
Green Chili Cheeseburger on the menu! For anyone who has
spent any time in the Southwest this is big news, green chili
is the
lifeblood of the restaurant industry in the SW and I am constantly
yearning for a green chili cheeseburger or a pizza with mushrooms
and green chili on top. In reality I don’t really remember
how the burger tasted, just that the chili made it GREAT!
In fact, now that I think about it… I have nothing to
say, other than Green Chili …uuuuUghhghhuuughhghh!
