Lamb shank that fell apart in the mouth with a creamy polenta that absorbed the amazingly rich juice, then melted down the throat. Amazing fingerfood appetizers that were thrown together in a whizz, flung onto the table, consumed almost immediately - so moorish and tasty that we couldn't finish our main courses. Fish was generally nice and moist, accompanied with flavourful sauces (the Halibut was superb). Portions are large, ambience is cozy and simple, service is slow (but that doesn't matter too much when the focus in this restaurant is obviously on the quality of the food). Chef Rick himself, is a super chap, full of stories and friendly banter. He's also the man who gave Eason Jordan his very first job as busboy in a restaurant he ran many years ago. I'm sure he'd be happy to re-hire him now if he's in need of something new after resigning from CNN.

Chef Ricks is the best place we here at Court TV have found here in Santa Maria! We loved their seafood and mushroom bisque, their inventive salads (both steak and halibut) and mostly we love it because Chef Rick delivers our lunch to the court house parking lot! How could it get any better!!!

A gourmet restaurant with a Cajun twist. The ambiance isn't quite gourmet (it's a storefront in a strip mall) but the food is delicious and comes in nice portions. I had the potato-crusted halibut with rosemary shrimp and red pepper sauce -- yummy! My colleagues both ordered from the daily specials and were equally pleased. Wine by the glass is a bit pricey at $8.50.
