The mori gozen was inexpensive and delivered a ton of good food. The tempura was light and the Kirin was cold.

Try to avoid Friday evenings (though you may already be back in LA or elsewhere on Friday anyhow). It seems to be the hot spot here, so expect a long wait and not much attention first from a busy though very nice staff. Once seated, you can order an excellent hot sake. Unfortunately our sushis were a bit disappointing, not very tasty. But they are enormous, and cheap. And if that day is your day, you'll be treated with a birthday orange and a choir of waiters and waitresses in kimonos.

What a pleasant surprise for this LA self-styled sushi snob - the fish was fresh, the service was gracious and welcoming and perhaps most impressively, the prices were astonishingly reasonable.

I have been going to Hama Sato for years and it is still one of my favorite Sushi locations. Yoshie and the boss do make some great stuff. Two of Yosh’s own unique creations are Japanese Nachos and the Chilidog. It was a favored place for MJ for take-out. Until Michael’s recent Grand Jury Investigation and the charges brought against him, there were several signed photographs hanging behind the Sushi Bar from Michael Jackson.

Very good Sushi/Sashimi... Sat at the bar... Great friendly atmosphere... They have hibachi grilles... Great place... Highly recommended... A lot of others from the trial go there and are regulars.
