It is a bit of a drive but what the hell, at least it get's you the hell out of Santa Maria.
Don't even think about not having the grilled artichoke app - lest you miss the best dish on the menu.

Awesome. Great food, great wine, great atmosphere. My trio shared what is perhaps the best appetizer I have ever had, an seasoned grilled atrichoke. My filet mignon was perfectly tender and mouth watering. The prix fixe style dinner included a shrimp cocktail, salad and dessert. We got a little "Sideways" and had great bottle of Hitching Post Pinot. Casmalia is home to original Hitching Post, but the movie was shot at the Buellton location. Also the wine and food options are slightly different from the Buellton restaurant.

One thing to keep in mind is that while the Casmalia restaurant is rustic, full character and in a picturesque location, if you are married to your cell or Blackberry be warned that none of the three in my party was able to get cell reception on our Cingular/AT&T devices. Other devices or cell services may fare better. Of course we didn't let the lack of vibrating Blackberries get in the way of a terrific evening.

Follows through on its claim of "World's Best Barbeque". My New York Strip was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. Most of the items on the menu come with several additional courses. Family-friendly service and be sure to call ahead for a reservation. (The Buellton location was in the movie Sideways.)
